Kimberlee Candela pictureKimberlee Candela - I so enjoy working with consumers of Far Northern Regional Center and their families!  It is my honor to advocate for, to serve, and to help empower my clients.  I have always worked in public service and am passionate about using the law to address inequities and right injustices.

I graduated from U.C. Berkeley and Hastings College of the Law.  I clerked for a year at the California Supreme Court before spending a dozen years as a public defender in Alameda County, representing clients in criminal court.  My second career (also a dozen years long!) was teaching criminal justice and legal studies at Chico State (and at Cal Northern School of Law).

I joined the Office of Clients’ Rights Advocacy in 2013.  I have some personal experience with the challenges that people with disabilities may face, as my brother is a regional center client and I have a mobility disability. I am thrilled to be a part of this terrific non-profit organization that fulfills such a vital function.  I am a very fortunate lawyer:  I truly look forward to coming to work!

Lorie Atamian - I grew up in Michigan and moved to California to attend college. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Paralegal Certificate from CSU Chico. Since arriving in California I volunteered my time as a facilitator and counselor on a crisis call-in line, as board chair on the board of directors of Rape Crisis Intervention and as a paralegal at the Community Legal Information Center and at Pro Per Advocates. Before coming to OCRA, I worked as housing advocate and advocated on behalf of seniors at Legal Services of Northern California. I joined the OCRA team in 2001 as Assistant Clients’ Rights Advocate and was since promoted to Associate Clients’ Rights Advocate.
