I’m originally from the Midwest, but am happy to be back in California, the state that captured my heart during law school. I received my J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego in 2014, where I graduated summa cum laude. After law school, I decided to further my education by getting my LL.M in International Human Rights Law at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Before coming to OCRA, I worked for the ACLU of Iowa, where I was brought on to build a political advocacy program. I have worked with victims of domestic violence and clients in historically underserved communities.

In my spare time, I put my love of Harry Potter to good use by volunteering with the Harry Potter Alliance as an immigration and migration campaign researcher (I’m also a Hufflepuff!). I love reading, going to the movies, writing short stories, and spending time with my cat, Neville. ;

I began my current role as a Supervising Clients’ Rights Advocate in the Office of Clients’ Rights Advocacy (OCRA) in 2011. In this role, I oversee several OCRA offices in the southern California and the Central Valley area. I began working at Disability Rights California in 1998 as the Clients’ Rights Advocate/attorney for person’s served by Tri-Counties Regional Center (TCRC). In that capacity, I represented individuals in administrative hearings, IEP and IPP meetings and provided legal advice on a variety of matters to TCRC consumers and their family members.

My prior experience working with children and adults with developmental disabilities included a variety of settings such as public schools, state hospitals, group homes, family homes, and a residential treatment center. It was these experiences that motivated me to pursue a legal education in order to more effectively advocate for individuals with disabilities. My interest in legal advocacy was further enhanced when I spent a year as a host mother for a deaf international high school exchange student.

I have a B.A. degree from the University of Massachusetts and Juris Doctorate from Southern California Institute of Law.

Prior to OCRA I was working as a program supervisor for the Youth Development Program (YDP) which provided a variety of activities for children to experience learning in a fun way. During that time I was also a student at Platt College in Alhambra where I obtained my Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies.

I began with OCRA as a part time temporary assistant in October of 2012. After assisting at different locations it was an honor to be able to obtain a full time position with OCRA providing bilingual support to several offices. I look forward to working for OCRA alongside a team of dedicated colleagues and having the opportunity to assist regional center clients.
